Father Vijaya Amrutha Raj Suripogula is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Kurnool, India, ordained on February 20, 2014. During his early years of ministry in the diocese, he encountered Saint Faustina's Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul and gradually discerned a specific mission to spread the message of Divine Mercy, especially among Telugu-speaking Catholics.
From around 2017, he undertook the demanding task of translating Saint Faustina's Diary into Telugu, a language spoken by more than 100 million people. Over roughly four years of sustained, focused work, he completed the translation and helped distribute it across at least three dioceses, which led to him becoming widely known for his role in promoting Divine Mercy in his region.
As his work spread, Fr.Vijaya Amrutha Raj Suripogula came to be regarded as a "Promoter of the Divine Mercy," actively participating in international prayer meetings, preaching on Saint Faustina, and distributing Divine Mercy books and prayer materials to deepen people's devotion. In January 2023, he arrived in Cambridge, United Kingdom, to serve as an assistant pastor at Our Lady of Assumption Church, where he continues this same Divine Mercy-centered ministry in an international context.
In 2017, after being transferred to Sirvel Parish in the Diocese of Kurnool, Father Vijaya Amrutha Raj Suripogula casually asked the Carmelite nuns serving there for a spiritual book to read. The sisters prayed a novena and decided they would give him the first book they saw when they entered their library; that "first book" turned out to be Saint Maria Faustina's Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul, which they then handed to him.
He took the Diary to the Blessed Sacrament, knelt in prayer, and asked the Lord to enlighten him about his mission as a priest, then opened the Bible and read Acts 20:24 about completing the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace; although he did not fully understand it at that moment, he later connected this verse directly with a call to proclaim Divine Mercy.
Over the next days, as he continued reading the Diary and praying, he experienced a strong inner conviction to translate it into Telugu, and from that point onward the translation became a focused, long‑term mission rather than a casual reading project.
The Journey & Time Taken
2017 – Beginning and Inspiration
In 2017, while serving at Sirvel Parish in the Diocese of Kurnool, Father Vijaya Amrutha Raj Suripogula received Saint Faustina's Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul from the Carmelite nuns at his parish and began to read it. He understood this gift (after their novena and giving him the "first book" they found), together with his prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and the Bible verse Acts 20:24, as a personal call from God to testify to the message of Divine Mercy. As he read, he was so deeply moved by the message that he felt a profound inner conviction—a divine inspiration—that God wanted him to make this Diary available to his people in Telugu, using him as an instrument of Divine Mercy.
2017–2021 – Dedication to the Translation
From 2017 onward, Fr. Vijaya Amrutha Raj Suripogula worked tirelessly on translating the Diary into Telugu, treating it as a profound, long-term mission rather than a secondary task. The translation process required approximately four years of steadfast and focused effort, extending from 2017 to late 2021.
2022 – Publication and Distribution
The translated Diary was formally published and released just before Easter in 2022. Several local bishops ensured that every priest in at least three dioceses received a copy. The book was widely distributed, fostering a rapid and extensive growth of the Divine Mercy devotion across the region.
